Chick Lit Classics #1
March 11th, 2010 by LeahWe posted earlier this week about some site changes we were implementing and our changes meant we had a free day to fill. Chloe and I decided that we would use that day to highlight some classic chick lit reads. Reads that every chick lit lover should read/should have already read. We hope you like the new feature and if you have any suggestions, let us know! We will also be alternating our Chick Lit Classics with Editor Articles - articles written by myself and Chloe about all things books! Our first Chick Lit Classic is… THE CALIFORNIA CLUB BY BELINDA JONES!
Chloe and I are huge Belinda Jones fans and I myself have read the majority of her books. I read The California Club a couple of years ago and I absolutely adored it. When Chloe suggested this for our first ever Chick Lit Classic, I knew we’d hit a winner and I fully agreed. The book has a rather cracking plot and a fantastic set of characters. I actually must re-read it at some point so I can review it fully! So if you haven’t already read The California Club, we very much suggest you rush out immediately and buy it!
When Lara Richards jets off to glamorous California, the last thing she’s expecting is to find her old friend Helen transformed from a clipboard-clasping frump into a shimmering surf goddess. The secret of her blissful new life? The mysterious California Club. So the offer of guest membership - one wish, guaranteed to come true by the end of their stay is one Lara and her friends can’t resist. Could this be Lara’s chance to win her best friend Elliot’s heart after ten years of longing? Or does the fact that he’s travelling with his brand new fiancee mean that Lara will have to come up with a new dream…?

Great choice! I love this book too, and all her books. May have to re-read it at some point as well.
belinda jones is one of, if not the best chick lit author out there, i have all of her books and love each one more than the last, great choice in my opinion
Jeez, you’re making me very curious what all this Belinda Jones fuss is about - everybody seems to love her and I haven’t read a single book by her, shame on me! Out of her titles this one seems the most appealing so I might actually give it a try - or at least buy it and then hopefully read it eventually! :)
