Nuisance VOIP calls aren’t all that common- yet. The fact is that they can be unpleasant and annoying. There are ways of dealing with these pests.
To trace a VOIP call
- Note the time and date of the call. This is evidence which can be used by the provider to find the caller.
- If you have a caller ID function, check it. You may have the number on the screen.
- Dial *69 (US number. Check local national options) to get information about the last call.
- Your phone company may or may not be able to track down the caller, depending on how the VOIP call was made.
- Your phone bill, at last, has a good use! It should show any information related to the unwanted VOIP call.
- Police may be able to help out, and your information is going to help them find your nuisance caller.
Note: Harassment may be an offence in some jurisdictions. You may well have some way of legal redress.
Above all- Don’t worry, get busy when you get a nuisance call! There’s a lot you can do about it!
