The famous XTERRA world series off road triathlon is coming back to Australia, using the spectacular Great Ocean Road as a venue. This is a beautiful but tough course, including turns, hills and more in a fabulous setting.
The Great Ocean Road route, famous for its Great Ocean Road tours and scenery, was chosen because of the high variability of terrain. The terrain makes it a great equalizer for athletes, with everyone getting a range of challenges. The Anglesea area, well known for its fabulous coastline and beaches, is also likely to be popular among spectators, easy to access and drawing big crowds.
International competitors will be coming from around the world. The XTERRA event, which features long and short courses, will also draw a lot of local athletes wanting to both try the courses and compete against top quality opposition. The XTERRA series will be held in April 2013.
