PBX, or private branch exchange has been around for a long time. It’s now having to be reinvented to manage new demands and new technologies. What’s happening is the VOIP and other technologies have changed the nature of phone services, and the old PBX is now becoming a system design issue.
The new telephone systems need:
VOIP- Now a standard and highly efficient system, highly useful for business and with added capacities and functions.
“Same page” mobile-friendly- The disparity of mobiles and their systems means that in-house systems have to work with these devices.
Scalability- Systems need to configure to users at reasonable market prices. The expansion of systems also needs to be simple and cheap.
Self-configurable- Even the nature of business has changed, and systems need to be configurable and re-configurable to match both size and needs.
The “PBX” of the future will be a very different beast to its predecessors, but far more efficient.
