Packing an internal frame backpack- A must-learn skill

Frame backpacks are very good things to have. They’re also the international best practice backpacking frames. When you see backpackers in Sydney or Reykjavik, typical long haul backpacker destinations, you’ll see that they’ve got their internal frames very well organised.

The internal frames are very efficient carriers, but you do need to learn how to manage the load.

These are the fundamentals:

Heavy items need to be centralised near the middle of your back. This improves load stability and balance, too.

Sleeping bags go at the bottom of the bag for reasons of decluttering as well as practical accessibility.

Anything which requires fast access, like rain gear or food, etc. goes at the top of the bag and is packed last.

Balance the load! Don’t have extra weight on one side, because it can cause back and neck injuries as well as making the backpack harder to carry.
