When you think about formatting a document, you can be forgiven for not being too impressed with the degrees of technicality that can be involved. With business cards, however, formatting is a practical issue. You need good formatting to get both presentation quality and information quality on your business card.
Fortunately, formatting business cards is very easy, and more flexible than you might think.
These are the steps, using Microsoft Word:
Sketch the layout of your card. Start with the information, and select fonts and type settings. Be critical and look at it. Does the layout do what you want it to do?
Do you have a logo? The logo should be in a simple jpeg format and scaled to the card. Experiment with positions on the card. (Click and drag with the image in the “above text” setting.)
When ready, try a print using the Word card settings.
Not difficult, is it? It’s fun, too!
